The Juried Art process that we know today was morphed over thousands of years, with its roots deep in the great civilizations of Ancient Greece, Egypt and Rome. The medium du jour was focused on sculpture, architecture and, to a lesser degree, painting. A tincture of time would provide for the development of a sophisticated process that would eventually create an atmosphere for inclusion and exclusion of art works and even the artists that created them. The system would create an aura of reputation that artists would come to depend on to generate sales and justify prices they would garner from sales resulting from the exhibitions.

Art exhibitions have purpose. They provide a display of the style and technique of contributing artists and the trends the arts are taking. Over years they helped define the general periods in art form that have been measured in history.

The types of exhibition are:
 • Open Exhibitions
 • Invitational Exhibitions
 • Juried Exhibitions

The come one come all format of an Open Exhibit was filled with many art forms and varying degrees of artistic talent. An Invitational Exhibit found fewer works and attendees but frequently a more critical consumer. A Juried Exhibit allowed only those artists or works that were approved for the exhibit by an expert individual or group of expert "jurors". All exhibition formats play a distinct part in the world of art and have proved beneficial to artists and to the viewing and buying public.

It was during the 18th and 19th Centuries that art exhibitions came to full bloom. Primarily in France and England art exhibitions were found to be thriving in Salons, Academies and Museums. This fashionable and aristocratic environment continued into the U.S. in the early 20th Century. The exhibitions of the arts were to become embedded in modern society and now were a significant source of revenue for artists, collectors and art traders.

The logistical challenges of getting to the art were, at the time, enormous. Soon to become the salvation of this dilemma was the advancing technology in modern photography. What became of the art of photography was now the photography of the art. Photos of art work were a relatively fast and efficient way to view art around the world. The quality in the photographic process was such that exhibits could be seen without

the need of traveling to them. By the late 20th Century digital photography and personal computing had taken the art exhibition even a step further.

Digitization of photographs of art works allows presentation to be manually manipulated to achieve perfection in appearance.

Online art exhibitions come in many different formats and venues, from the viewing of the classics to online marketplaces abounding with the arts and crafts of entrepreneurial artists and artisans. It is here that the quality and presentation are critical. In a world teeming with art, art products and visual arts it is apparent that we have drawn a crowd. A very large crowd.

Pay-Per-Click ads can be a great marketing tool, there’s little doubt about that. However, this form of advertising is not for everyone and is more difficult than it looks. Sure, anyone can come up with a slogan, title or headline that they think properly describes their product or service. But is that really a good and effective ad? In this post, we review three major reasons why people click on ads and how you can apply this to your own online marketing strategy.

Let’s start out with a small introduction:

What is a Pay-Per-Click ad, really?

PPCs are ads sponsored by an independent person, such as yourself, that appears on the sidebar or at the top of the results page within relevant search engine results. The ad will appear when keywords or phrases, that you’ve previously specified, are searched for. This is a very keyword-targeted form of marketing and is much more aggressive that classic SEO practices.

What are the immediate benefits of a Pay-Per-Click ad?

A PPC ad is your chance to catch targeted visitors based on the content you choose to publish. Unlike SEO, which automatically pulls up relevant links and content according to the search engine "crawlers", a PPC ad is written and planned by you alone. For example, would your particular marketing need benefit from an ad that focuses on differentiation or benefits? Playing around with these different concepts can not only increase the traffic generated from your PPC ads, but help align your advertising with your brand messaging. The extreme growth of social media users in the past several years has prompted the development of a new kind of internet marketing. Instead of emailing stories they like, people are "digging" and "tweeting" them. The importance of websites and blog posts are determined by the votes of readers on Reddit and Delicious. People can follow many of their favorite brands on Twitter and become their fan on Facebook. This intense boom in social media use begs the question, "Where did this all come from?"

The popularity and hype of social media marketing has taken away from the traditional marketing focus on search engine optimization and pay-per-click ads. SEO and PPC may have fallen into the background while social media shines with all its glamour. However, although social media marketing has proven to be useful, it cannot stand alone. All the followers in the world will not generate the amount of traffic that a great Google ranking can. Until search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo! decide to index every tweet in their rankings, SEO is an absolute must in internet marketing. • Be the sole source of traffic for your site. Relying solely on social media networks to bring traffic to your site is entirely ineffective. In a recent presentation by @HubSpot titled "How to Use Social Media for Lead Generation," they revealed that while three social media sites accounted for about 15% of all traffic to their site, Google alone provided over 22%! This means that while social media is certainly on the rise, search engines still provide the largest source of traffic.
• Get your site ranked. Twitter, the fastest growing social media site, is filled with internet marketers promoting their brand. While this is a great method of driving traffic to your site, it is invisible to all outside of the Twitter world. Google do not index activity on Twitter. Most people rely on search engines to bring them to the information they’re seeking. To take part in that, you need to use SEO tactics to give your site a great organic ranking and, therefore, a piece of the pie.

Despite all its glitter and appeal, social media is not a one-stop solution for internet marketing. Search engine optimization and pay-per-click ads may seem outdated amidst all the social hype, but don’t abandon SEO! These traditional methods take advantage of the search engine traffic that social media cannot access. Easily Calculating and Improving Online Conversion

Whether your business has decided to go online or you plan on starting your own ecommerce website, there’s a very important concept that will aid in either your success or failure: online conversion.

Now, what is online conversion? Online conversion is the percentage of the amount of visitors to your site who end up making a purchase. For example, if you had 15 unique visitors to your site in one hour and 3 sales during that time, your online conversion rate would be 20%.

Keep in mind that this is just an example—a twenty percent online conversion rate is practically unheard-of! A normal conversation rate goal for online stores is around 2-3%.

With poor conversion rates, your website will not be as producing the type of income that you are looking for. Here are some tips on how to determine and increase your online conversation rates by optimizing certain aspects of your website:

1. First, Know Your Online Conversion Rate:


Determine the amount of visitors you get on your site in a given period of time. If your web-hosting agent does not provide a tool like this, you can use Google Analytics or another web-analytic tool.

Add up the number of visitors you’ve had for one month.

Example:

Week 1: 48

Week 2: 90

Week 3: 86

Week 4: 107

TOTAL: 331

Add up your total number of sales for that month.

Example:

Total Sales: 4

Divide the number of SALES by the number of VISITORS.

Example:

4 (sales) / 331 (visitors) = .012

Determine your percentage by moving the decimal places two places to the right.

Example: .012 to 1.2%

Keep in mind that the industry average is 2-3% for online stores. This rate may seem low, but online retailers receive much more traffic than retail shops do, which drops their conversion rate.

2. Improve Online Conversion Rate by Increasing Site Quality:

One of the first things you can do is increase the site quality. Do this by:

A. Maintaining a fast website—don’t make customers wait and wait for pages to load.

B. Removing clutter—the only things on the landing page should be a welcome, a few featured products, and then links to other pages (Shopping Cart, Clearance, Store Categories, etc.). You may put one, maybe two ads for a sale.

C. Clarity for Orders—the shopping cart, shipping information, and return policies of your business should be clearly visible to your visitors. Make purchasing from your site as easy and convenient as possible.

D. Consistent Updates—if visitors come by after a month and the page is still the same, that sends a message that the business is not necessarily on top of things. Update your page two to three times a week with different featured items, sales, etc.

E. Site Credibility—let consumers know this is a real business by providing an address/location, phone number, and even photographs of the store or key executives to put your site visitors at ease.

Now that we’ve discussed the many aspects that affect online conversion rate, start implementing a few of these tips into your online business to see results! The only mistake you can make with this project is to do nothing or to expect too much, too soon. By keeping your expectations in check, you can avoid unnecessary disappointment and delays in your success and begin increasing your online conversion.

Building Multiple Streams of Online Income

Building multiple streams of online income is one of the most confusing issues for new internet entrepreneurs. I believe the reason for this is that most are transitioning from a traditional modern work background that involves one, or at most, two, primary sources of income--in other words, a job! In this model, the "job" provides 100% of the income. This keeps things simple--that is, until it's gone! Then life gets pretty complicated until another "job" is found.

To become a successful online entrepreneur, this model of thinking has to take a radical change. Instead of looking for a single pot of gold, you have to start picking up little gold nuggets along the path. Although it's possible, most successful online business models are not built around a single revenue source; rather, many small (sometimes really small!) streams of income pool together to form a significant resource.

Multiple streams of internet income exist at a macro and a micro level. The macro level involves having several totally different internet businesses. For example, you may own a couple of different niche websites, or you may have your own website plus you earn money online from paid surveys or other work opportunities. The macro level of internet business diversity is similar to having different "jobs" in the traditional work world.

Online income is more complicated than that, though! Each macro-level income source can also have many micro-level sources. An example would be a single website that makes money through multiple sources, such as affiliate sales, ad placement revenues, proprietary goods sales and membership fees.

Each of these sources, correspondingly, has its own micro-level income streams! For example, each merchant for affiliate sales constitutes a stream, and even each product from a merchant can be considered a stream. Similarly, each ad source, along with each ad is an income stream. Each page of a content-rich website also produces its own micro-stream of income.

To have a successful internet business, you must constantly monitor these micro-streams of income to see which are producing and which are not. Then, just as in any business, you have to adjust your strategy accordingly. Non-profitable ads could be taking up valuable space on your website that could be replaced with money-producers, but you would never know this unless you consistently check your earnings at a micro level.

Building multiple streams of online income and manage them efficiently is the key to profitability for most new internet businesses. It is also one of the most difficult if you're used to having a single lump-sum payment every month from one employer! To be successful online, you must change your mindset!

Instead of being the pig who's confined to a small area and whose big bucket of feed is brought to it once a day through no effort of its own, you must become the songbird who spends the entire day looking for tiny seeds and insects to sustain it. I don't think I've ever seen a malnourished songbird, but--you know what happens to the pig!
